|Kingdom Community Wind|
The Kingdom Community Wind (KCW) project is being proposed by Vermonters, for Vermonters, on an approximately 3-mile portion of the Lowell Mountain range in the southwest corner of Orleans County in the Northeast Kingdom community of Lowell.
Green Mountain Power, working with area residents and landowners, is developing this 21-turbine, 63 MW wind turbine project to serve their ratepayers and neighbors. The Project has the potential to meet the average energy needs of approximately 24,000 households and is on track to generate electricity in 2012.
Northeast Wind began as a founding team member for Kingdom Community Wind, serving as project manager and assisting in the feasibility assessment, wind resource analyses, turbine siting, and permitting. We assisted Green Mountain Power, Vermont’s second largest utility, with coordinating environmental assessment and permitting with a goal of exceeding the standards and requirements of the Vermont Public Service Board for a Certificate of Public Good. We also supply support in areas of project planning/management, technical computer-based mapping, visual simulations, and community outreach.
Lowell's voters came to the polls to show their support for Kingdom Community Wind on Vermont's 2010 town meeting day, approving a measure to support the Project by a wide margin.
